What’s funny today may not be funny tomorrow. The hot comic who’s killing audiences now may seem dated and clichéd in a few years. Few comedians transcend their age – George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks, for instance – earning the descriptor of “classic,” where years later their material still gets laughs.

Cheech & Chong are a classic comic duo; their popularity spans three generations. Now with the release of Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie, brand new audiences will be introduced to their comedy. The combo of producers/brothers Branden and Eric Chambers and Tommy’s son Paris have collaborated to bring Cheech & Chong’s top routines from their recordings to the big screen through animation – which means Cheech & Chong have become cartoon characters!

“It’s the easiest gig I’ve ever had to do,” says Tommy. “But the media is unbelievable. We’re up at four in the morning talking to wake-up radio shows. There’s more media than ever before – blogs, all kinds of websites. But I’m not complaining, because animation saved my life!”

Maybe it did. Just before the release of Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie, Tommy was given a clean bill of health: “My prostate cancer is behind me,” he says cheekily.

Actually, he cites a complete change in diet: Erasing sugar completely, increasing fresh fruits and veggies, and upping his daily intake of water. “I feel great,” says Tommy. “I’ve always concentrated on being fit, but now I have a whole new perspective.”

As for the movie, it’s outrageously, classically funny. Routines from Cheech & Chong’s Grammy Award-winning albums have sprung to life anew, including “Dave's Not Here,” “Let's Make a Dope Deal,” and more. With help from a bud-lovin' body crab named Buster, Cheech & Chong deliver the ultimate comedy high and give you the munchies for more.
