I've known the hard rock group Clutch for nearly two decades now, so when they decided to throw a secret listening party to premiere tracks from their tenth studio album, Earth Rocker, in a live performance at the Machine Shop rehearsal studios in Belleville, NJ, I wasn’t surprised to learn that I was among the few dozen handpicked press professionals to be invited.
The band blasted out six new songs from the album, including the title track, "Crucial Velocity," and "Cyborg Battle." The entire event was recorded for posterity; watch highlights from the party above (if you look closely, you can see me in the background during a few shots).
A few months later, I presented Clutch with the 2013 HIGH TIMES Doobie Award for Best Stoner Rock Artist at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Congrats to them on taking home the trophy and on another killer album.
