Stash

Straight out of the Motor City comes Stash, Detroit's reggae/hip hop pioneers. Over the last 3 years, Stash has regularly filled regional venues with slick grooves, dope rhymes and positive vibes.

Hard work and the constant drive to keep the crowd moving fuels Stash, keeping the music focused. Stash released their first CD, "Gettin' Trim" on February 24, 2006 to a crowd of over 500 people in Detroit, and they plan on keeping their summer schedule filled.  Most recently Stash has opened for Long Beach Short Bus (ex-Sublime) in Cleveland, OH, and ripped it up at Ann Arbor, Michigan's famous Hash Bash on April 1st.

The experienced members of Stash have worked and shared stages with many varied acts, some of which include Michael Winslow (Police Academy & Spaceballs), Hush, Black Magic Crossing, Sponge, Thornetta Davis, Atomic Fireballs, Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker, the Howling Diablos, The Articles, Groove Collective and members of George Clinton’s P-Funk Allstars.

Stash is:

Scott Lowry

Born with an addiction to harmony, Scott Skilz, (a.k.a Scott Lowry) started playing music at a very early age, trying to emulate the styles of bands like the Grateful Dead and Bob Marley, taking an avid interest in the poetic styles of Bob Dylan, KRS-One, Bob Marley, G. Love, Tribe Called Quest, NWA, and many others, who “tell it like it is.”  He found that his passion for music was overwhelming.  After having worked with many bands and fellow artists, he went on to form a vision of combining the reggae hip-hop vibe with messages from his own experiences in a twisted existence, tied in with the jam band feel, and started Stash.

Eric “E-Love” McNary

A veteran of the Detroit music scene, Eric switched from guitar to bass to play with Stash, cutting his teeth on George Clinton, Frank Zappa, Jane’s Addiction and James Brown, with healthy doses of Chicago blues, and even acts like Slayer and Motorhead. Always trying to stay versatile, Eric lends backup vocals and guitar to the three-piece. Echoing the rest of Stash, “The crowd is our fuel, and we gotta keep this machine on the road!”

Paul “Tall Paul” Garvey

Paul started his long and arduous quest for “the pocket” at the ripe age of 13. In the following 14 years, bands such as Primus, Sublime, 311, Phish, and Bob Marley and the Wailers sculpted this young drummer into what he is today...a stylistically-funky, pocket drummer. Some would say his quest was over. It was actually just the beginning. In early 1999, he co-founded Stash with lead vocal/guitarist Scott Lowry. After much work finding the right bassist, Stash was finally complete.
