Arizona authorities say a traffic stop in the northern part of the state resulted in the seizure of more than a ton of marijuana.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says the seizure was made Thursday after deputies stopped a tractor-trailer rig traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 between Seligman and Ash Fork.

When cops searched the rig, they found vacuum-sealed plastic bags of marijuana packed in cardboard boxes.

According to the Sheriff's Office, it's believed the marijuana was headed to the East Coast.

The Sheriff's Office says the driver and a passenger were arrested and the truck and trailer were seized along with the pot.
