IOWA CITY, Iowa - A group wanting to legalize the use of medical marijuana in Iowa City needs more valid signatures on a petition it submitted.
George Pappas, co-founder of Students for a Sensible Drug Policy, filed the petition last month.
City officials say the petition has with just over 15-hundred valid signatures. City Clerk Marian Karr says 25-hundred signatures are needed.
A notice informing Pappas of the findings was sent out yesterday. He has two days, after receiving it to let the city know if he plans to get more signatures.
The additional signatures must be submitted within 15 days.
