I can't even begin to describe (or even remember) everything that happened to me since the last Can Cup journal entry, so I'll keep this one brief. The final votes are currently being tallied and soon (within a couple of hours) the winners of the Cannabis Cup will be declared. It's very exciting -- like the Academy Awards of pot.
Today our cultivation editor Jorge Cervantes gave the 4:20 Grow Seminar, including an extensive slideshow of an operation in Colombia that's producing over 100 different strains of weed at once. Very impressive. As always, Jorge stressed that the most important part of growing cannabis yourself is to remember the basics when it comes to light, water, seeds, and medium. Keep improving, and eventually you'll be producing buds worthy of the best shops in Amsterdam. In the meantime, we can all go to the coffeeshops while we're here and get those buds the easy way!
I need to run now and get ready for the awards ceremony. As one of the expert judges, I'll be right there on stage to help announce the winners, and will also be on hand when Eddy Lepp accepts the Freedom Fighter of the Year Award and Stephen Gaskin gets inducted into the Counterculture Hall of Fame. It's going to be a great night, and a legendary party afterwards.
Whoever ends up winning, I can personally attest to the fact that every entry was top notch. We couldn't have come to such an important decision without all the judges, from all over the world, who came to Amsterdam to put in their two grams.... uh, I mean two cents.
Tomorrow there will be a 4:20 party at the winning coffeeshop, which looks to be Barney's Breakfast Bar based on the early returns. But as we all know (especially us Americans), you can't always believe what the early polls say.
Check back here soon for a wrap-up on the 2004 Cannabis Cup, plus a complete list of the winners!
To all those who made it: Thanks!
To all those who didn't: Next year in Amsterdam!
