Downtown Brooklyn May House New York’s First Pot Dispensary

Earlier this month, PalliaTech—a company vying for one of New York state’s limited medical marijuana licenses—announced that it had signed a lease in Brooklyn for a dispensary that could open as soon as January.

According to Crain’s New York, the lease is for a 3,000-square-foot, second-floor space on Fulton Street, between Pearl and Jay Streets, but it is contingent on PalliaTech winning one of the five coveted licenses.

“It’s going to look like a super-modern pharmacy,” Andrei Bogolubov, executive vice president at PalliaTech, told Crain’s New York. “And the clientele will be people registered in the program … there isn’t going to be any walk-in traffic.”

The New York Daily News reported that this would be one of four dispensaries PalliaTech would operate in New York and the only one in New York City.

“This is a new era for medical cannabis,” Bogolubov told the Daily News. “It’s going to bring tremendous benefits to New Yorkers who suffer from diseases that could be treated or alleviated by cannabis.”

According to the New York Department of Health, the five vendor licenses will be awarded next month.
