If you've ever donated blood, you know there is a detailed set of rules surrounding the process of donating blood and very specific qualifications about what activities you can and cannot have done within the past hours, days, months, and years. So the question today is: Does marijuana use preclude or affect your ability to donate blood? We deferred to the Red Cross for an answer:

Q: Can I give blood if I have been drinking or taking drugs?

A: While the Red Cross does not encourage the use of controlled substances, marijuana or alcohol use does not necessarily disqualify you from giving blood as long as you are feeling well. If you have EVER injected any illegal drugs, you can never give blood.

So donate away if you are able! For more information, visit the Red Cross.
