Comic genius Dave Chappelle wasn't the slightest bit dazed and confused even though he performed with what appeared to be a blunt in his hand (Update: The sound engineer claims Dave was smoking "cloves") at his 7th out of 10 sold-out shows at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, on Tuesday, June 25th.
He opened his hilarious stand up set by quipping to the audience, "The reason why I decided to come back after all this time is because I needed to pay some bills. So thanks for helping me do that!"
The idea for his comeback performances, however -- the first in over 10 years -- weren’t really half baked. The Radio City run marks the 10th anniversary of his documentary, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. His film featured several hip-hop artists performing at a block party thrown by the comedian, including The Roots. The Roots performed again for Dave's show last night, backed by a full orchestra.
