A cat was caught smuggling pot to prisoners in the Eastern European nation of Moldova.

The country’s Department of Penitentiary Institutions told reporters that someone in the village of Pruncul had been using the cat to supply inmates with marijuana.

The cat had previously been observed regularly entering and leaving the prison through a hole in a fence. However, prison guards became suspicious when they noticed something odd about the cat's collar. Upon closer investigation, guards discovered two packets of pot attached to it.

This isn't the first instance of cats being used as contraband couriers in Eastern Europe. In Northern Russia a feline was caught trying to smuggle cell phones and chargers, which were taped to its belly, into prison. In other regions of Russia there have been reports of cats smuggling heroin behind bars, including one incident in which a cat was killed by a prison dog.
