HIGH TIMES asked DJ Logic about his favorite Cannabis Cup memories. Here's what he had to say.

Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities and I was so happy and honored that HIGH TIMES asked me to DJ a set as part of the 2011 Cannabis Cup award ceremony.

When I arrived it was such a special moment to be welcomed by the HIGH TIMES staff – a wonderful greeting and meeting up with friends – I’m overjoyed just thinking about all the green gifts I was presented with so I could participate as a celebrity judge.

Here are a few of my favorite Amsterdam memories:

Making Connections
Meeting and speaking with growers from all over the world is kind of like talking about music – but instead of discussing your favorite records, you talk about your favorite weed. It was a unique experience speaking with these herbalists and connoisseurs. I particularly enjoyed getting into the cultivation, the lifestyle and how much they appreciate pot.

Sampling the Best Weed in the World
Being a judge reminded me of going to a wine tasting and sampling all the fine wines. It felt good to be part of the process and I really enjoyed sampling all the strains side by side with the staff and friends.

I had at least 50 to 100 strains to go through, and I remember how hard it was deciding which strains were the best. They were all so wonderful. I wish I could have stayed longer and seen all of Amsterdam (while finishing all the weed I still had to smoke).

Meeting New Friends
Hanging out at the winner’s party on the last night was really cool. I met the owner of Barney’s and it turns out he’s a big fan of mine, and a lot of my musician friends. So to hang at his shop on the night he won the Cup with his Liberty Haze and to be treated like family, to feel embraced, was really meaningful. I have to give a shout out to Jen, Morgan and Nico for bringing me out to spin at the awards show. It was just awesome.

Finding My Favorite Coat
While in Amsterdam I had to hit up one of my favorite stores, Hemp HoodLamb, where I picked up the black hemp trench coat I still wear to this day. I showed to Jon Popper and he tried to take that coat from me, but I loved it too much to let it go. Definitely go and check out Hemp HoodLamb, they’re the best!
