Bragging to friends Sunday that he had marijuana led to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy — even though police don’t think the leafy, green vegetation really was pot.
Jesse James Cody Potts, 809 University, was referred to juvenile court for allegedly misrepresenting a non-controlled substance as a controlled substance, Barry Plunkett, deputy Salina police chief, said Thursday.
Plunkett said Potts allegedly told friends Sunday that the substance in a plastic baggie was marijuana. Someone alerted police, and an officer was sent to investigate.
Plunkett said the officer couldn’t say exactly what the substance was, but he knew it wasn’t marijuana.
