Republicans behind the ongoing government shutdown want one thing: the repeal of the Affordable Healthcare Act. They've voted 41 times to repeal the act, even though it was voted into law by Congress, signed into law by President Obama and approved by the Supreme Court.
We think the following folks would benefit from some smoking herb, because they SO need to chill.
1. Ted Cruz
Newbie Republican Senator Ted Cruz staged a 21-hour talk-a-thon on the Senate floor disparaging Obamacare. Maybe with a little Kush, he’d wind down and see the error of his fake-filibustering ways.
2. John Boehner
Speaker of the House John Boehner (pronounced BONER) is between a rock and a hard place as Tea Party hardliners refuse to allow the government to operate. Support for the shutdown, even amongst the party faithful, is low. Even FOX News admits it. Mister Speaker, you should pack a pot peace pipe, do your job and broker a deal.
3. Michele Bachmann
This Tea Party darling made a photo op out of war veterans who couldn’t get into the World War II Memorial in DC because of the shutdown, telling reporters it was President Obama’s fault. However, Bachmann has said how “very excited” she and her GOP cronies are about the shutdown, telling the Washington Post, “It’s exactly what we wanted, and we got it.” Lady, eat a pot brownie and think about your life.
4. The Koch Brothers
Nothing can save billionaire Tea Party financiers David and Charles Koch from their right-wing nuttiness, but maybe a drop or two of pot tincture would at least make them calm, quiet, and more aware of their surroundings.
5. Edwin Meese III
As Ronald Reagan's attorney general, Meese chaired the National Drug Policy Board and implemented Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign. As founder of the Conservative Action Project, he is one of the main architects of the shutdown. This guy needs to confront his prejudices against progressives -- perhaps with the help of some Jack Herer, the strain named for the marijuana activist who made battling the government’s wrongheadedness his life’s work.
6. Michael A. Needham
Needham runs the political arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation, and supported legislation which would have ended US Postal Service Saturday delivery and cut benefits for postal workers. Before cutting health care programs and postal services, we think he should do a dab and look into the future he’s trying to shape.
7. James C. Miller III
One of the directors of anti-Obamacare organization Americans for Prosperity, Miller is also a longtime advocate of privatization of the Postal Service. Maybe he’d come up with some better ideas for running the country with a couple of bong rips and a moment of reflection.
8. Mark Meadows
North Carolina Representative Meadows suggested that the GOP tie the dismantling of Obamacare to the bill that funds the government for the next year. In an interview with CNN, Meadows said, "Our intent has never been to shut down the government. It's to stop the [health care] law." Sounds like he needs some cannabis clarity, since the government is SHUT DOWN.
Maybe Obama should let his anger translator have a chat with these guys...
